Ceylon is the former name of the Island of Tea. This drop of water in the Indian Ocean will amaze you with all the facets it offers to its visitors. Among its many treasures are ancient ruins reflecting centuries of spirituality, unspoiled nature inviting exploration of numerous national parks, a train journey through breathtaking landscapes, tea plantations, waterfalls, and endless beaches.
Day 1: Negombo (Meals: –D; transport: 30 minutes)
Ayubowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at the airport, we head towards the west coast to settle by the sea in Negombo. Here, we unpack your bags and rest after your long journey.
Day 2: Wilpattu (Meals: BLD; transport: 3 hours 30 minutes)
After the morning yoga session and breakfast, we set off for Wilpattu National Park. An adventure awaits us with camping in the heart of nature, along with a photographic safari in search of leopards. If luck is on our side, we might even spot one. Along the way, we visit one of the island’s oldest Hindu temples, the Munneswaram Temple.
Day 3: Sigiriya (Meals: BLD; transport: 2 hours)
Morning yoga session followed by breakfast in the heart of the reserve. This day, dedicated to cultural discoveries, will take us to Anuradhapura, Mihintale, and Sigiriya. To conclude this full day of exploration, a traditional relaxation experience awaits us.
Day 4: Sigiriya (Meals: BLD)
After the morning yoga session and breakfast at the lodge, we set off for the ancient fortress of Sigiriya to climb it. During the day, we also explore traditional Sri Lankan life in Habarana and go on a photographic safari for elephants in Minneriya National Park.
Day 5: Kandy (Meals: BLD; transport: 2 hours 30 minutes)
Early in the morning, we head to Pidurangala Rock and climb it to witness the sunrise. We then continue towards Kandy, stopping along the way to visit the Dambulla Temple and the spice garden in Matale. A traditional evening is planned in Kandy.
Day 6: Ella (Meals: BLD; transport: 6 hours)
After breakfast and the morning yoga session, we explore the city of Kandy and its famous temple housing a Buddha relic – a hint: it is the Temple of the Tooth! On the way to Nuwara Eliya, we visit a tea plantation and factory. We then continue our journey by train to Ella, passing through breathtaking landscapes.
Day 7: Ella (Meals: BL-)
We start the day with yoga and breakfast to prepare for the day’s hike, which takes us to waterfalls, tea plantations, and mountain landscapes. We explore the town of Ella and enjoy an evening at leisure for dinner.
Day 8: Tangalle (Meals: BLD; transport: 4 hours)
After the morning yoga session and breakfast, we leave the mountainous area of Ella and head towards the southern beaches. Along the way, we visit another waterfall, Ravana Falls.
Day 9: Tangalle (Meals: BLD)
We settle in Tangalle at the end of this Sri Lanka discovery tour and enjoy a day of relaxation. For the more adventurous, we can try surfing!
Day 10: Tangalle – Airport (Meals: B–)
Transfer to Colombo Airport. Depending on your flight time, you can stop to explore the fortified city of Galle.
