Day 1: From Podgorica to Lake Skadar (Meals: ––D ; Approx. 40 min drive)
Arrival at the airport. We collect our hire car and head to our accommodation in the Lake Skadar region.
Evening meal and overnight stay in a welcoming guesthouse by Lake Skadar, complete with wine tasting.
Optional activity (depending on arrival time): kayaking on the lake.
Day 2: Lake Skadar Region (Meals: B L– ; Approx. 2h40 drive)
We begin with a visit to the old monastery in Cetinje, before admiring some of the area’s most iconic landmarks. We’ll share in our hosts’ beekeeping traditions, discover the art of honey-making, taste a few homemade liqueurs, and enjoy a traditional Montenegrin lunch. Dinner is at leisure, with an overnight stay in a charming guesthouse.
Optional activities: hike to Mount Lovćen and/or visit the Lipska Cave.
Day 3: Lake Skadar Region
(Meals: B – – ; Approx. 30 min drive)
We board a small traditional boat for a gentle cruise across the colourful waters of Lake Skadar.
A wonderful surprise awaits us on the way…
Later, we enjoy some free time. Those who wish may wander through the village of Rijeka.
Dinner at leisure. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
Optional: extend the lake cruise to a full 5 hours, including lunch on board.
Day 4: From Podgorica to the Bjelasica Mountains (Meals: B L D ; Approx. 4h30 drive )
We follow the spectacular Morača Canyon, pausing for a welcome visit to the historic Morača Monastery.
Lunch is hosted on a local farm, where we savour delicious homemade dishes, share them with our hosts, and sample local wine and rakija.
In the afternoon, we continue on to the magnificent Biogradska Gora National Park to explore its ancient virgin forest.
Dinner and overnight stay with a local host family.
Day 5: The Glacial Lakes of Bjelasic
(Meals: B – D ; Approx. 30 min drive ; hike 4–5 hrs – 560 m elevation gain)
With our local guide, we set off along scenic mountain trails towards the stunning glacial lakes of Bjelasica. Along the way, there’s even the chance to bathe in natural springs – a refreshing reward during the hike.
Dinner and overnight stay with a local host family.
Optional activities: ascent of Crna Glava peak or a horse riding excursion.
Day 6: The Plav Region
(Meals: B – D ; Approx. 50 min drive)
We spend the day exploring the surroundings of Plav, with its many springs, lakes and bathing spots.
Take a swim, try your hand at fishing, or simply enjoy a peaceful picnic by the water.
In the afternoon, experience fly-fishing with professional guidance (catch and release).
Dinner and overnight stay with a host family.
Day 7: Durmitor National Park
(Meals: B – – ; Approx. 2h30 drive)
We journey north-west, following a road dotted with varied landscapes and natural wonders. The drive itself is an adventure, leading us into the breathtaking Durmitor National Park.
Durmitor National Park is a natural wonder of striking beauty. We’ll explore dramatic gorges and dense pine forests, before being captivated by the crystal-clear waters of the Black Lake and Snake Lake – both truly breathtaking sights.
Overnight stay in a cosy family-run hotel.
Optional: discover the Durmitor region by e-bike.
Day 8: Durmitor National Park
(Meals: B L – ; Approx. 30 min drive)
Today we set off on a thrilling rafting adventure along the Tara River. Flowing at 1,500 metres above sea level, its riverbed carves the world’s deepest canyon after the Grand Canyon itself – a spectacular setting for an unforgettable day on the water.
Overnight stay in a family-run hotel.
Optional activities: Via Ferrata climb or horse riding excursion.
Day 9: Hike to Crvena Greda
(Meals: B – – ; Approx. 30 min drive ; hike 3–4 hrs – 370 m elevation gain)
We begin at 1,700 metres above sea level and follow the trails to a serene glacial lake surrounded by pine forest. At the summit of Crvena Greda peak, we’re rewarded with a panoramic view across the Durmitor range and its famous Black Lake – a truly awe-inspiring sight.
Overnight stay in a cosy family-run hotel.
Day 10: Return to Podgorica (Meals: B – – ; Approx. 3 hrs drive)
After breakfast, depending on flight times, we stop at the remarkable Ostrog Monastery. Built into the rock face of Ostroška Greda, this church and monastery, hidden within a cave high above the valley, make for a memorable final visit before our return.
