It was hard to leave them. We were totally disconnected from Belgium and totally immersed in the life of the nomadic families&#8230; We took the time to be a bit &#8220;contemplative&#8221;, to go for long walks, to cook in a relaxed way with the mothers, to take naps, to draw as a family what we saw, to play with the young children, to ask lots of questions, &#8230; Finally, we went to the yurt districts on the outskirts of Ulan Bator, to get a good understanding of Mongolia today and the challenges facing pastoral nomadism&#8230; An extraordinary journey. Even the travelers we met in the hotel on our last day were fascinated by what we had experienced. In addition to the magnificent Mongolian steppes they&#8217;d seen, we&#8217;d experienced something very special with nomadic families they&#8217;d only met from afar at best.
